how to use a bobby pin

pro tip

Make sure the bumpy side is placed down towards the scalp, this means the flat side up friends. Start by holding the bobby pin upward with the opening at the top. Place a small section of hair between the prongs as you weave the bobby pin through the hair until it reaches the curved end. You’ve got it from here.

What are hair color levels?

Your hair color level is determined by how light or dark your hair is. There are light, medium, and dark levels for each color family (blondes, browns, blacks, grays, and coppers). The lower the level, the darker the hair. For example, black hair is generally level 1 while the lightest, whitest color has the highest level number. Check out our article, The Beginners Guide to Hair Color Levels and How to Find Yours, for a full overview.

Why are they called bobby pins?

Hair pins rose in popularity during the Flapper era in the 20's for women to keep their short in place to create the iconic bobbed hair, hence the name bobby pins.
